Here’s some news you may have missed over the last few months while we’ve all be hunkered down for the winter…
Strategic Advisory Board
On February 27th we convened our inaugural Strategic Advisory Board with members from leading organisations. We’ll introduce them officially at our May 22nd launch event, by which time they’ll also have been showcased here on the Fair Chance Business Alliance website.
Four nations…
We’re currently working with the Scottish and Northern Irish prison services to ensure a robust and portable employment charter can be adopted across all four nations of the UK. This is a UK “First”, which is surprising given how many companies operate across national borders.
… and beyond!
We’ve gone international! The Corporate Coalition of Chicago started piloting the Bronze tier of the charter in January.
Early adopters
We’ve started inviting selected employers to join the Alliance as early adopters for a time-limited annual membership fee. These are typically leading inclusive employers with a demonstrable commitment to ED&I who we believe can add real value to the Fair Chance movement. Until the end of this year, we’ll continue to also welcome Founding Members of the Alliance and Founding Signatories of our Employment Charter. We’re determined to recognise the commitment of beacon ESG & CSR businesses, who together with early adopters will ensure the financial sustainability of the Alliance through both annual membership and pledges. There’s an active pipeline of more than 50 leading inclusive employers lined up for post-launch membership.
And if you’d like to know more about signing the Fair Chance Pledge and becoming a founding signatory, please do get in touch.
Invitation to consult
Scotland’s next new prison is opening in a couple of years and FCBA has been invited by SPS to consult on, and explore the various education and work pathways open to those in custody. They’ve invited us to help them design a regime which will give individuals the best chance of success after release, as well as bring employers on board at the earliest opportunity. We can’t wait to get started!
Jobs board
Finally, it’s been a key ambition since we founded the Alliance to launch a jobs board specifically for Fair Chance candidates and employers. Discussions are ongoing and we expect to have more news about this development in the summer.
